It's an extraordinary time...not entirely sure how to get through this...but it has to be with a positive attitude and a warm smile.

I will continue to focus on my sea paintings and my textile design collections. I am completely inspired and creating regardless of these challenging and difficult circumstances.

I'll show new work on here shortly....

We need beauty in our world, now more than ever.

Stay strong and be kind.

If you've ever been to Gylly cafe...

Piece by piece the LIFEBUOY series will develop and expand showing a strong signature style which captures the feeling of special locations to me.

The pieces are slightly abstract and geometric with compositions which are simplified to their most basic forms. Flat colour, textures and plaster relief within the work show a new and unique approach to the seascape.

30x30 cms, Framed.

The artwork does look particulary strong in a contemporary setting.

I began with Falmouth....St Ives next.... I love Porthmeor! Happy days :)

APOTHEOSIS AND BEACH FUN - LES ILES GLENAN. 50X70cms. Mixed media.

My most recent commission piece - the challenges were many but the reward was great!

I have combined my signature plaster relief white line sky and textural sea with, pure white, plaster yachts set against the fine waves of the turquoise ocean.

A sense of scale and depth was created by showing the lines of the element worn fence leading down to the beach.

A special piece for a lovely couple...Happy anniversary :)

It's hard to let go sometimes when you've given hours and days of your life creating a piece of artwork. This is how I'm feeling as I prepare to pack and send a new commission piece...Dark skies is my latest creation. Of course I'll create something new and it's a familiar twinge of sadness just as when I show a new collection of designs.

For a short intense time it's all consuming; the act of progressing through each stage....working and reworking. There are ups and downs, but now it's finished and I'm satisfied, and to me, it's perfect :)

Yey!!!

I feel so pleased that my work will be included in the Imagine Falmouth Exhibition at Falmouth Art Gallery.

It's a large exhibition and will show a selection of established and emerging artists working in Cornwall.

I submitted LIFEBUOY- Custom House Quay (Falmouth) 30 x 30cms

It's one of a new series, it's strong and more abstract than previous work and contains elements of a view I see often. It shows a number of techniques I use both in my design work and sea paintings.

I really will sort out the gallery page soon...thanks for your patience! :)

PORTHCURNO, CORNWALL. MIXED MEDIA. 100x120cms. J. A Daniels

My Gyllyngvase beach artwork, previously shown at the Falmouth Hotel has sold and the space has been filled by Porthcurno, a mixed media painting. It'sa fairly large piece, 100x120cms. £995

It is unframed on stretched canvas. An interesting play between the flat colour of the beach and black headland and the more realistic textural quality of the sky and sea.

As soon as more pieces become available I will show them here on the blog (until the gallery page is updated).

I'm currently focused on my current design project, however, there will be more new sea art to show very soon, so please check back over the next few weeks.

After completing a new series of designs I'm busy working on new sea paintings...in the meantime, here's a photograph of the beautiful and tranquil beach at Trelissick (near Truro) on a cool misty morning.
